Just Cry

Life is filled with its fair share of obstacles and challenges
Some at which feast on your inner core
Don't run, hide, or lie about your circumstance
Be real with yourself
Just cry

It is then when raw emotions take ownership of the room
Like brooms, hands sweep moisture from the cheek
No food and the closest thing you have to a check don't hit until next week
Just cry

Friends that didn't speak up
Knew the truth
Lips stayed tight like perhaps one was blowing warm soup
Just cry

He said he would make it this time
A son wishing his dad would watch him play
Another missed call, voicemail, fake cough, he's sick
Just cry

Another young soul arriving to a death date reservation to soon
To the mothers picking out their babies last outfit like she once upon a time did his first
My my my
Just cry

These tears we cry say more than any cluster of words
Share your story
Something as natural as a baby whimpering for attention
Tears can move mountains and those with hearts will sympathize with your pain
No longer is this a sign of weakness
Speechless as they roll
Just cry

Another family member, another friend, captured and held as a prisoner to drugs
Their soul
Such a beautiful warm spirit
Missing a hug
Nothing like thicker than water, we're blood
Like pants that don't fit we're that tight type of love
Just cry

When that soldiers flag is folded and presented grave side
Did all he could for his country
No weapons needed
His legacy shall survive
Just cry

When you think of the past
Just cry when you think of the present
Just cry when you think of the future
Just cry when you think of the next generation believing everything they hear in the music
